2B Colin Bruton
*Substitute: Daisuke Sugimoto*

The bobbles are still facing the wall and the Brewers’ are hotter then the cipoltle cheeder on my sandwich today. Time to take it home with back-to-back sweeps! Pre-game is starting on the radio and here are the lineups.
Brewers Diamondbacks
2B Rickie Weeks SS Augie Ojeda
CF Gabe Kapler 1B Chris Burke
LF Ryan Braun 2B Orlando Hudson
1B Prince Fielder 3B Mark Reynolds
RF Corey Hart CF Chris Young
3B Russell Branyan C Chris Snyder
C Jason Kendall RF Justin Upton
SS Craig Counsell RHP Micah Owings
LHP Manny Parra LF Alex Romero
Thoughts…
Can Manny just be Manny and continue his string of solid outings and duplicate McClung’s outstanding performance of 6 inning 1 run ball? His ERA has been plummeting the entire month of May with the exception of his hiccup against Washington.
Is there any doubt that Prince is back? 4 HR’s in the last 5 games, average up to .280.
Cory Hart needs to get hot again if we are going to keep this momentum going on the road. 5 HR’s on the last road trip and zero on the home stand. His average has also been slowly creeping down since coming home.

O’Callahans’ Crushers has reported that OF Ryan Maiuri will remain on the bereavement list for a third consecutive week.
NEWS
INF Chris Thousand continues to nurse a sore shine from attempting to field a ground ball in week one. The injury does not seem to be serious or prevent Thousand from playing Thursday. “People heal differently and [Chris] Thousand just probably needs just a little bit more time,” said Player-Manager Tim Romanello at the team’s weekly press conference, “a couple more bananas and I’m sure Chris will be 100%. If he is injured, it certainly hasn’t prohibited him Read more »

So it’s Burger King today….BK Double Stack….only about 3 million calories and 12 pounds of fat. But is sure is tasty.
I’m sure that you’ve all heard by know that Bill Hall wants out of Brew Town. Unless he becomes cancer in the club house, I just don’t see it happening. The Wisconsin Sports Bar has some excellent breakdowns of why not; here.
Found this article on pitchers and hitting from Baseball Prospectus. Yovani gets some pub on the plus side and Sheets on the minus. Come on, Sheets has been Read more »

SHEBOYGAN-The O’Callahans’ Crushers (2-0) rallied once again for an 11-5 victory over the Dent Wizard (1-1) in Week Two of the Sheboygan One-Night Thursday Softball League to remain unbeaten and share first place with Frankies. While O’Callahans’ led the majority of the game, they proved to be sluggish in the first inning as they gave up four runs to the speedy Dent Wizard line-up. However, the Crushers responded with two runs of their own, when Tim Romanello homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning and Chad Schreiber singled in Chris Thousand to cut the deficit in half.
The score would remain 4-2 until the Crushers would put together back-to-back innings of four runs in the fourth and fifth to finally take the lead for good. While plenty of offense was present for O’Callahans once again, it was their improved defense combined with a strong pitching performance from Chad Schreiber, Read more »

Just sitting here at work eating lunch and listening to the game….nothing better to get you through the day then hearing Uecker tell stories, Jim laughing and hopefully a sweep of the Braves. In honor of Ueck, Rumors and Rants has a post of the top 10 sports announcers in a movie….guess who’s number 1. Some great quotes listed also.

New Draft rankings out today from Baseball America….Brewers first pick at #16 I believe.
….Oh geez. McClung is up to bat, this won’t be pretty. 3 pitches and he’s done. Missed by a foot on the change-up according to Powell.
Sporting news has the Brewers ranked 24th in their latest Power Poll.
….Okay, back to work. Go Crew!!

So the ghost of Brett Favre strikes again. This time sportsdom is obsessing over his empty locker. Really?! Like Favre cursed it on his way out the door or something. I can think of a few guys who might benefit from sitting in the locker of a future Hall of Fame’r. Might have to sacrifice a chicken to Joe Boo first though…
“I think it’s more than a locker, and there’s some plans for the locker that will be addressed in the future. But there’s nothing else to it. I wouldn’t want his locker, especially after his hygiene, my goodness. It’s a locker of a very special player in the history of our organization, and there are some plans for the future, and we’ll address that when it comes. I’ll just leave it at that.”
My guess is that it’ll be the new stop on the Lambeau Field tour……

3-2 Crew win! Just got home in time to see the 8th & 9th inning. Nothing like taking the luster off of a win like having to listen to Davey Nelson stumble over his words in the post-game show. I have no doubt that he has a wealth of information somewhere up in his nogg’n but someone needs to by the guy a Tom-Tom in order to find it or maybe it was his time spent in Chicago.
Slide Davey, slide!! Oh to see him barrel roll Schroeder…
Looks like Bush, after a little rocky start, put up some solid numbers. 7 innings, 6 hits, 2 earned runs, a walk and 3 strike outs. 92 pitches thrown 57 strikes….that’s just huge from him. 2 solo home runs were the only blemish. I’ll take that any day of the week and twice on Sunday for Bush.
Yost’s on now….”they compete, he battled, they stay in games…yada, yada, yada.” Wow, that’s really getting old, though these reports asking the same question thirteen different ways doesn’t help either.
Nice to see Bill Hall shut his mouth and show it on the field. Brilliant effort after the typical silly looking swing on an inside pitch. Sounds like he stole third all Read more »

Am I the only one who thinks this next homestand could very well determine Ned’s future? Off day on June 5th. I personally would like to see him continue to manage, because that would mean the team is probably winning. I don’t mean that Ned SHOULD be fired if they have a losing homestand. I’m just saying…….
Brewers escape D.C. with a split thanks to more clutch hitting from Gabe Kappler. He continues to impress with quality pinch hitting and spot starts. He is turning out to be a steal as a fourth outfielder.
Interesting that with Ben Sheets on a tear offensively, three hits in his last four games, Yost now decides to go traditional and move the pitcher back to ninth in the lineup. I give him credit, Kendall was in position to drive in some runs and he came up with a hit. So is this a permanent change now? Read more »
